Nargis Fakhri reveals how ‘Rockstar’ was a turning point in her life
On the 13th anniversary of her debut film “Rockstar”, Nargis Fakhri reflected on how the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer became a turning point in her career.
Nargis Fakhri was born on October 20, 1979 in Queens, New York to a Pakistani father and Marie Fakhri, a Czech woman. The actress describes herself as a “global citizen” because of her ethnicity in Pakistani, Czech and American culture. Nargis started her career as a model and appeared as a contestant in The CW reality series America’s Next Top Model (2004).
After realising that future was not bright for her in Hollywood, Nargis shifted her focus to Bollywood and started appearing in Indian print campaign of Kingfisher Calender. She earned immense fame and started getting the attention of Indian filmmakers like Imtiaz Ali.
The actress made her debut in Rockstar (2011) as the female lead alongside Ranbir Kapoor. She was appreciated for her performance and the ability to grasp Indian roots. In many interviews the actress had stated that her reason for working in Indian films is to relate to the culture and roots of India.

After making an impressive debut in Bollywood, Nargis Fakhri went on to star in some of the most acclaimed and commercially successful films in both Hollywood and Bollywood. Films like Madras Cafe, Main Tera Hero, Spy and Housefull 3 are some nice films to her credit.
