The Supreme Court had directed the principal secretary of the state home department and the director general of police earlier this week to write to the owners of cinema halls that there is no ban on the screening of the film.
The order was issued by the court to the state’s principal secretary, home, and DGP to immediately communicate its decision to all the theatres where the film was being originally screened. The court also directed that ‘the state shall, in compliance with the order passed by this Court on 15 March 2019, take necessary steps for protecting the properties of the theatre owners and the safety of the members of the public who wish to view the film.’

In addition, the court ordered that the Joint Commissioner of Police should forthwith withdraw the ban order that was earlier addressed by him to the producer of the film on 11 February 2019.
The directive of the Supreme Court turned the tables for the film makers within a few days’ time. Some of the cinema hall owners, who had suddenly taken down the political satire directed by Anik Dutta, are now enthusiastic about screening the film in their theatres.
“We are getting calls from several cinema hall owners, particularly multiplexes, expressing interest in screening the film in their theatres immediately,”informed Billy Chatterjee, producer of the film.
“The film will be released in Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore and Ahmadabad,”he added.
After getting relief in the legal battle that continued for about a month or so, the makers of the film are also now eagerly preparing for the re release of the film.
Although the date of the release has been finalized, the number of cinema halls that will be screening the film is yet to be decided.
