Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has appealed productions houses such as UTV and DISNEY to release his film. Shoebite, directed by Shoojit Sircar and featuring Amitabh Bachchan, is reportedly stuck in a legal battle. Big B took to Twitter and posted an appeal to allow the film to release. He wrote, “T 2753 – PLEASE .. PLEASE … PLEASE .. Utv & Disney, or whoever else has it .. Warners, whoever .. JUST RELEASE THIS FILM .. !! a lot of hard labour been put in ..???? don’t KILL creativity !!”
Sircar had taken Shoebite to production house UTV after it could not release with Percept Picture Company. Percept Picture Company had filed a lawsuit against UTV to stall the release, which was later dismissed. Sircar later had blamed the producers of the film, UTV Disney, for the way they had handled the film and for insulting a star like Amitabh.
During, Amitabh Bachchan’s film Pink‘s trailer launch, he was asked about Shoebite, to which he replied, “He (Sircar) is still cutting the shoes.”
Shoojit Sircar also spoke out, “When a film does not release, it is very saddening and you feel really bad for it. But we have moved on. We are making films and we are still trying if something can happen but I think that I am repaying back Mr. Bachchan with Piku or even Pink as we could not do that film and that film could not release. So this is my debt that I am repaying him,” he said. However, what is the issue with the film is not yet been disclosed.
Shoebite is a story of self-discovery, Amitabh playing an old man who sets out on a journey to find himself.
