Hollywood stars have come out and strongly raised their voice against sexual assault in the industry. Carrying out the MeToo movement, the actors have brought the world’s attention to the issue. However, Bollywood actors are still not very vocal about casting couch and sexual exploitation. A few of them have hinted at its prevalence while others have just dodged the topic.

Recently, Raazi actor Alia Bhatt spoke up about the existence of casting couch in the film industry. Talking to Deccan Chronicle, the actress said, “All of a sudden the casting couch discussion has become a burning topic. However, I am of the opinion whenever such topics are discussed, the environment turns very negative. People start believing that the industry is bad.”

“I know and do understand that at times, many boys and girls have to go through bad situations in order to be able to fetch some work. Everyone has to face their own battle of struggle in order to be able to get work in this industry. And during their struggle some people could use the strugglers for their benefit,” she further added.

In her words of advice to newcomers, Alia said, “They should always believe in themselves. However, if at all they are confronted with this bad moment (casting couch) they need to immediately inform their parents. And thereafter go to the police.”
On the work front, Alia Bhatt has wrapped up shooting for Gully Boy with co-actor Ranveer Singh. Currently, she is engaged in shooting for Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor.
