Itmay look as glamorous as it can be, but the world of cinema has some dark secrets that still haunt some of the biggest stars across the world.
Recently, Salman Khan was convicted in the blackbuck poaching case that took place almost two decades ago. But Salman is not the only one who has had brushes with law as there are many celebs across the globe with criminal records.
Let’s check out a list of 10 actors who were caught on the wrong side of the law;

Sanjay Dutt
Popularly known as Deadly Dutt in the media. Sanjay Dutt is one of the biggest superstars of India and probably one of the most controversial actors. He has a criminal record attached to his name as Dutt was convicted in a case related to the 1993 Mumbai bombings and sentenced to five years of imprisonment. In his early days in Bollywood, Dutt was said to be have been an acquaintance of some of the most ruthless gangsters.
Salman Khan
Bollywood’s very own bad boy, Salman Khan has a past full of dark revelations ( maybe some are still to be revealed). From his hunting of a sacred species of animal in Jodhpur to running over a human being in a hit-and-run case, Salman has been charged with culpable homicide and a repeat offender. Salman is one of the biggest superstars of India and, like his Chal Mere Bhai co-star (Sanjay Dutt), an actor with his own share of controversies.
Shiney Ahuja
Shiney Ahuja was hailed as the next big thing in Bollywood, but all of that faded away after he was charged with rape. Ahuja was accused of raping his domestic help in his own house. Ahuja filed an appeal against his conviction and was later released on bail by the Bombay High Court. As of now, the case stands close but this controversy shook the entire film fraternity as Ahuja had been described as a shy and introvert by his colleagues.
Fardeen Khan
Fardeen Khan, son of actor Firoz Khan, rose to prominence in the early 2000s. But it’s very well said that not everybody can handle fame. Fardeen’s drug addiction almost cost him a jail term after he was busted with a kilogram of cocaine. However, the No Entry actor pleaded guilty and denied any further intentions of reselling. He was let go with a formal warning and de-addiction treatment.
Sooraj Pancholi
He was in the spotlight even before making his debut with Hero back in 2015. Sooraj Pancholi is considered one of the prime suspects in Jiah Khan’s death case. Sooraj, who was allegedly dating Jiah, was said to be an abusive boyfriend and tortured Jiah, which lead to the actor’s reported suicide. The deceased even left a note accusing her ex-boyfriend as the main reason for her committing suicide.
Mark Wahlberg
The poster boy of Calvin Klein was not always the young charming lad from the neighborhood. Mark Wahlberg was a troubled Boston youth with a dark past and history of violence. Wahlberg was convicted of brutally beating a couple of older gentlemen during a robbery outside a convenience store back in the day. Walhberg formally sought a pardon for this attack but later dropped the pursuit after the victim came forward and forgave the actor.
Kevin Spacey
Considered one of the finest actors of his generation, Kevin Spacey has been described as a sexual predator and molester after the Weinstein scandal, which exposed some of the top moguls of Hollywood and their exploitation of the young talent. Actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making sexual advances towards when he was just 14. Some of the employees of House of Cards also accused the actor of sexually harassing them and asked to terminate his contract.
Snoop Dogg
An icon in his own right Snoop Dogg is one of the pioneers of the rap music, who often used graphic violence and usage of drugs as his central theme. But do you know the rapper has been charged with drug possession for five times! Dogg has also been charged with unlawful possession of firearm in 2006 and charged with murder in 1993. He was later acquitted in 1996 of the murder case.
Robert Downey Jr.
We all love him as ‘Iron Man’, which is considered as his best role till date, and looks for inspiration from his life story. Robert Downey Jr.’s comeback story is indeed inspirational. From a drug addict to one of the most bankable stars of Hollywood Downey has come a long way. Downey was substance abuser back in the day and was sentenced to three years in prison. However, he was released within one year for his good behaviour and passing all the sobriety tests.
Johnny Depp
After coming this far it’s quite safe to say that your favourite stars on screen might just not be your favourite person in real life. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s marriage came as surprise to their fans but their fallout was even more shocking. Heard accused Depp of not only verbally abusing her but also assaulting her physically. In a video shared by Heard to TMZ, a furious Depp is seen throwing a bottle of wine and glass at his ex-wife and also screaming at her at the top of his voice. However, Depp was never charged of any type of assault and settled his divorce with Heard by giving her $7mn, which is donated to charity.
