Earlier, the Election Commission had cleared the release of PM Narendra Modi stating that the film has not violated the model code of conduct even as the opposition parties had moved the poll body stating that the purpose of the release was political to get extra mileage in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Election Commission of India on Monday submitted a sealed report on PM Narendra Modi, the biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Supreme Court after the top court last week directed the poll body to watch the movie and submit its report.
The producers of the movie had raised objections over the EC’s decision to stop the screening of the film without even watching it.
The movie captures the journey of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from his childhood to becoming the Prime Minister and has been waiting for the clearance to be released after the EC issued an order barring the screening of political films during the Lok Sabha elections and the implementation of the model code of conduct.
