BJP to launch star campaigners in Uttarakhand

Star campaigners of the Bharatiya Janata Party will start hosting public meetings in Uttarakhand from Monday onwards. While the BJP has finalized programmes of many of their prominent leaders, the main opposition party Congress is struggling to get dates of their star campaigners from the AICC. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president Amit Shah and other BJP leaders will be coming to Uttarakhand in the first week of April.

After addressing a public meeting at Ruderpur recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing an election rally in Dehradun on April 5. BJP will intensify poll campaign from Monday when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will address public meetings at Pithoragarh, Gopeshwar, Kotdwar and Jhabreda.

BJP president Amit Shah will tour Uttarakhand on April 3 to address a public meeting at Uttarkashi and on April 8 at Haldwani. Uttarakhand BJP’s media head Dr Devendra Bhasin said, “Many more star campaigners will be touring Uttarakhand, their plan is finalizing.”

Many are anxiously looking at the political development after former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Major General (Retd.) BC Khanduri’s son Manish joined Congress to contest from Pauri Lok Sabha seat. Uttarakhand BJP is now avoiding BC Khanduri and has not announced any programme for this veteran leader in the hill state so far.

Uttarakhand Congress leaders are busy in their election campaign in different parts of Uttarakhand. Congress president Rahul Gandhi was in Dehradun on March 16 and after that, a long silence prevails. Uttarakhand Congress is hopeful that very soon many of their star campaigners will by visiting the hill state soon. The names of Priyanka Gandhi and former cricketer Navjot Singh Siddhu are doing the rounds.
