Higher edu institutes can admit students twice a year: UGC chairman
In a significant move, universities and other higher education institutions (HEI) in the country can admit students twice a year instead of the existing system of once annually.
Students filling the forms can make payment for the fee up to 11 pm on March 30, while the application correction window will open from April 1-April 3. As per the notification, exam city for CUET 2023 will be released on April 30.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday extended the deadline for online submission of application forms for the Common University Entrance Test (UG) – 2023.
Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar confirmed that candidates can now submit their application forms and fee till March 30. The applicants can visit the official websites of the NTA – nta.ac.in and cuet.samarth.ac.in – for more information.
April 30. Earlier, the last date for submission of the CUET UG registration form was 11 March 2023.

However, there is no age limit for the candidates appearing for CUET UG 2023. Aspirants who have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination or are appearing in 2023 irrespective of their age can appear for the CUET examination. However, the applicants need to fulfill the age criteria (if any) of the university, institution, or organization in which they aspire to take admission.
This year, about 168 universities will admit students on the basis of the marks scored in CUET UG. These universities include 44 Central universities and 31 state universities such as Barkatullah University, Bhopal, Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics, Karnataka, Cotton University, Guwahati, and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. Last year, 90 colleges had given admission to students on CUET UG criterion.
“There are 27 deemed universities which will admit students based on CUET scores for their undergraduate programmes. Sixty-six private universities too are participating in the common entrance test this year which include Bennett University, Uttar Pradesh, NIIT University, Rajasthan, and UPES, Dehradun,” a senior official was quoted by PTI as saying.
