To settle a personal score with the owner of a car parked in a multi-level parking in the area of West Delhi, a 23-year-old youth set the car on fire, resulting in the burning of 20 cars parked there.

The incident took place in the wee hours of Monday in the multi-level parking of Subhash Nagar, located in the area of Rajouri Garden, during which some of the cars were found burnt completely.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), West District, Akshat Kaushal said that on Monday morning at about 04.30 am, a call regarding fire incident at a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) multi level Parking situated in Subhash Nagar was received at Rajouri Garden Police Station.

On receiving the information, police staff of Rajouri Garden along with seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot and immediate efforts were initiated to control the fire. With the prompt action, the fire was brought under control within some time and the process of cooling was conducted.

During the search operation at the different levels of parking, after the cooling process, a total of 20 cars were found in burnt condition at level third of the Basement of the parking. Moreover, out of these 20 cars, some vehicles were found completely burnt, with only chasis of the vehicles left behind.

A case under relevant sections, including the Prevention of Damage to Public Property has been registered and investigation was initiated by the team of Sub-Inspector Naveen, Durga Prashad, Head Constable Jitender, Harbinder, Constable Pradeep and Anil was constituted under the guidance of Inspector Ravinder Verma and supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Inderpal Singh.

During the investigation, CCTV Cameras installed at the MCD Parking were checked, wherein a person was seen lighting fire in the tyre of an Ertiga Car parked there. As the fire spread, other cars parked nearby also caught fire and got burnt.

On the basis of CCTV footage, it was found that the culprit came on a Honda CRV White Color Car and after the incident he left the spot in the same car. The car was followed with the help of CCTV footage and the culprit was nabbed.

The accused has been identified as Yash Arora (23), who disclosed that he had personal enmity with the owner of Ertiga namely Ishan over some personal issues and to take revenge from him, he burnt his car.
Further investigation is still under progress.
