In its first ever move to involve bloggers to promote its destinations, Uttarakhand tourism department is conducting trip of seven travel writers to Gangotri and Yamunotri. The bloggers selected by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) started their 5 day road trip from Rishikesh on Wednesday. The tourism department plans to conduct such tours of many popular bloggers in the hill state.
Uttarakhand tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said, “This is our first edition of Bloggers Bus programme and we have purposely selected Yamunotri and Gangotri as the foremost destinations. Soon, we will be flagging off other Bloggers Buses to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Tehri and various places of Kumaon. We are hopeful that these enthusiastic bloggers will add a new perspective to these tourists’ places and will give a whole new dimension”

The idea behind the program is to diversify the image of the destinations- which are so far known only for religious tourism. Many least known destinations offer unparalleled charm. Through the ‘Bloggers Bus’ programme, the Uttarakhand tourism is conducting sponsored trip of the young group of travel writers to share their travel experiences on internet.

Some of the bloggers appeared to show early signs of excitement and marked the beginning of their journey by documenting the experiences on the social media.
Namita Kulkarni says, “I am looking forward to this trip with great enthusiasm. When I first heard about Yamunotri and Gangotri I only thought about temples. But I got to know that this journey is much more and beyond. I’m very excited to discover the beautiful trails and scenic views and I’m sure that this trip will bring a lot of surprise for me and for my fellow bloggers.”
