A neighbourhood copes with loss
As the sun rises over Gurudwara Nanak Saar, perched on the hill overlooking Old Rajinder Nagar in central Delhi, the area is filled with the sweet sound of devotional hymns. The gurudwara fills with devotees.
In a major development to the Uphaar cinema fire case, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to grant relief to Gopal Ansal and asked him to surrender and undergo his one-year sentence.
Senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani had urged the court to give a few more days for Ansal to surrender.

The apex court had earlier asked Ansal to surrender to undergo the remaining part of his sentence in the Uphaar fire tragedy case.

A huge fire broke out at the Uphaar cinema hall when the Hindi movie Border was being screened on June 13, 1997. Trapped inside, 59 persons died of asphyxia and over 100 were injured in a stampede.
