Uneasy clam prevails in UP village where Dalit youth was shot dead

Tension still prevails in Shobhapur village of Kankherkhera area where the security has been beefed up after the murder of BSP worker Gopi Paria on Wednesday.
Paria was one of the demonstrators during the Bharat Bandh protest on April 2 and was murdered two days later allegedly by youths from Gujjar community of the village following an altercation related to the violence.
 Shobhapur village was worst hit by the violence. There was tension in the village and the situation worsened with the murder of BSP worker Gopi Paria. Police have made tight security arrangements in the village.
“PAC and Rapid Action Force has been deployed in the village to ensure calm in the village,” said SP City Maan Singh Chauhan. On Thursday night, the police held a meeting with the villagers and made an appeal to live in harmony.
 Gopi, was an active worker of BSP from Shobhapur, A Dalit-dominated hamlet.
On the basis of Gopi’s statement, before he breathed his last, police arrested Manoj and Kapil for the murder. Two others are absconding.
Manoj and Kapil told the police that they had an altercation with Gopi on Wednesday. They said GOpi’s name was mentioned in the list given to police of people involved in the violence.
Gopi protested before them and in a fit of rage, the duo fired at him. Gopi succumbed to the bullet injuries during the treatment.
