On Friday afternoon two police officers were sent to ATC at NSCBI airport by Bidhannagar Police commissionerate to ensure hassle free landing of chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s flight from Bagdogra to Kolkata airport.

It is the second time in a month that police entered the ATC of NSCBI airport ~ a high security zone ~ before the landing of Miss Banerjee’s flight from Bagdogra.

Mr Sinha also expressed concern over the delay of Miss Banerjee’s flight from Bagdogra to Kolkata On Friday. He also spoke to Bagdogra airport officials regarding the delay of chief minister’s flight.

Miss Banerjee’s IndiGo flight On Friday from Bagdogra to Kolkata delayed for one and half hour because the schedule flight could not land due to strong wind at Bagdogra airport.

On 23 February, four police officers were sent to ATC to watch hassle free landing of chief minister Mamata Banerjee when she was returning from Bagdogra to Kolkata.

Talking about the setting up of a second airport near Kolkata airport Mr Sinha said, “Fruitful discussions were held between senior state government officials and senior officials of Union ministry of civil aviation.”

Last year, AAI had asked the state government to identify the land for setting up second airport near Kolkata airport to reduce pressure and better handling of increasing number of air passengers at Kolkata airport.

“Deccan Charter will soon start to operate small aircraft from Kolkata to Durgapur and Cooch Behar.

“Most of the technical problems have been resolved to start the operation of small aircraft by Deccan charter,” Mr Sinha said.
