U’khand okays hiking salary of home guards

The Uttarakhand government has hiked the salary of home guards working in the hill state. The Uttarakhand cabinet approved increasing the daily wage of home guard from Rs 400 to Rs 450.

Over five thousand home guards are working as auxiliary force to the police and assisting in maintaining internal security in Uttarakhand.

The home guards were demanding increasing their payment since a long time. The Trivendra Rawat government fulfilled the long pending demand to bring cheers to the home guards providing their services in Uttarakhand.

The Uttarakhand cabinet meeting was held in Dehradun on Wednesday and the cabinet has also approved providing land to Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department at Badrinath for the construction of a guest house.

The Uttarakhand cabinet has also amended the sand mining policy (2005).
Now businessmen involved in sand quarrying can ferry the mining products out of Uttarakhand. With no such provision, earlier sand and other products were smuggled out of Uttarakhand.

The issue of scarcity of National Council Of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) text books also figured in the meeting and it was decided that all the hurdles will be cleared before the start of the new academy session.

The state government will approach the NCERT and publishers based in Uttar Pradesh to solve the book crises. The Uttarakhand government has decided to introduce NCERT text books in its schools.
