A trekking team, comprising senior officials of the Indian Oil, Delhi government and CPWD, have been stranded in the snowbound Vanpatiya area in Rudraprayag district from three days.
The eleven-member team got stranded during its expedition from Badrinath to Kedarnath. The matter came to light last evening after two members managed to come down at Madmaheshwar and informed the administration, District Magistrate Mangesh Ghildiyal said.

“The area is receiving snowfall which makes it hard to access it…we have requisitioned the IAF for its assistance to rescue the trekking team which includes a GM-level official of the Indian Oil,” the DM said.
A combined team of the police, the NDRF and the disaster management personnel has been dispatched to Vanpatiya to assist the trekkers, said the DM.
However, it would take them time to reach the trekkers as they were only halfway through, he added.
The team includes two self-employed persons and some porters.
