Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari on Friday met Lt Governor Anil Baijal regarding the proposed hike in power tariff. He was accompanied by URD office-bearers and other power sector activists.
Tiwari said he has highlighted the "irregularities" of private power distribution companies and demanded that the LG exercise his powers under Section 108 of Delhi Electricity Act, 2003, and direct Delhi Electricity Regulation Commission (DERC) to re-invite objections and hold public hearing afresh on the proposed multi-year tariff and return of equity (ROE).

Tiwari told the LG that the business regulation plan formulated with the connivance of the Arvind Kejriwal government and private companies is not only against public interest but is not in conformity with the law.
"During the period 2002-2007, bank loan interest rates were around 15 per cent while ROE was 16 per cent and now in 2017 bank loan interest rates have fallen to 6 per cent but due to connivance with Kejriwal government the private companies are still getting ROE of 14 per cent. Due to this ROE scam, people of Delhi are facing a burden of paying Rs 600 crore extra per annum," alleged Tiwari.
told the LG that by stopping the Rs.600 crore ROE scam and taking a few small steps, the government can reduce power tariff by 15 per cent next month itself.
