In a strategic operation codenamed ‘Panther Claw’, the Anti Organised Crime Cell (AOCC) of the Delhi Police on Friday arrested three sharpshooters of the infamous Kala Jatheri gang from Rithala village in Rohini.

The raid was carried out by a dedicated unit of the Delhi Police, specially constituted to contain the menace of organised crime in the Rohini district of Delhi, a police official said.

The police recovered two high-calibre firearms, including a pistol and a revolver, along with seven live cartridges from the possession of the apprehended criminals.

Acting on an intelligence report received on Wednesday regarding the movement of associates of the Jatheri gang in Rithala village in Rohini, a joint team comprising special staff and the AOCC conducted a raid on a building where the gangsters were suspected to have taken refuge.

Upon noticing the police team approaching the building, one of the suspected criminals attempted to flee but was promptly chased and apprehended by the alert officers.

On being questioned, the captured suspect disclosed the presence of two additional associates in the same building, who were subsequently arrested along with the seized firearms and ammunition.

The arrested persons have been identified as Mandeep, also known as Monu, Hardeep and Sunil, alias Raj.

During intensive questioning, the trio confessed to their affiliation with the Kala Jatheri Gang and admitted to carrying out criminal activities at the instance of their masters.

The police are actively pursuing to trace the origin of weapons and ascertain their involvement in other criminal activities. A case has been registered against them under the relevant sections of law.

The police have initiated steps to unravel their network and connections, a police official said.
