Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a frontal attack on the BJP as he campaigned for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) at Akkalkot, near Solapur, in Maharashtra on Wednesday.
Five men had dug a 155 feet tunnel to steal petrol from pipeline of Indian Oil Corporation in Dwarka. The rare discovery was made on Wednesday and one person was arrested, police said. Four other suspects were reported to be absconding .
According to a senior police officer the matter came to light after a blast was reported around 1.30 a.m. on Tuesday in Dwarka’s Suraj Vihar. “When a police team reached the spot it was discovered that the blast occurred underground. On investigation police discovered that an underground chamber had been built. Further check led to discovery of a tunnel.
A police team wore masks as a precautionary measure to check the tunnel and to their surprise found that it led to the pipeline of Indian Oil,” said the officer.

The caretaker of the plot, Jabbar, was consequently arrested and tunnel was sealed. “Primary investigation revealed that tunnel was 4 ft wide and 155 ft in length.
The officer informed that five months ago five men rented the plot to start a business of repairing cars. The business was a cover up as theit aim was to dig the tunnel, the officer felt. A small room built on the plot was the place from where they started digging the tunnel,” he said. The officer said that the arrested man confessed to stealing about 1,500 litres petrol every day. It took them two months to dig the deep tunnel.
