Kandhamal district health department has decided to bear all the expenses of conducting a second operation on 19-year-old Sujata Mallick, an ANM tribal trainee of GNM College here since it was due to sheer negligence of doctors that they had left a surgical needle in the right chest of the girl.
The first operation had been conducted on 3 January 2019, informed the CDMO, Kandhamal, Dr Sameer Kumar Das.

The operation was done to remove a tumour from her right chest. She was re-operated after three days at the district hospital but without success.
Subsequently, she was shifted to MKCG Medical College Hospital, Berhampur where she was advised to remain under medication for several months.
The girl had complained of severe pain since last week and the family members and villagers of the victim girl had gheraoed the CDMO and the doctor who had operated upon the girl.
The doctor meanwhile was forced to refund the money that was taken before the operation, family members said.
Inviting the family members and villagers on Monday, Dr Das promised them to take all care personally and assured the irate relatives to admit the ailing girl to AIIMS Hospital, Bhubaneswar immediately and bear all expenses.
