At least 220 students pitched their ideas for the ‘Startup India Odisha Yatra’ boot camp held at Sri Sri University which flagged off the Startup India- Odisha Yatra at its premises under the Odisha Startup Yatra, Invest India and Department of MSME on Wednesday.
The inaugural ceremony of the Startup India boot camp also included the culmination of the week-long successful journey of the National Startup Week. The one-day boot camp event was aimed at searching for entrepreneurial talent in the university and creating a startup-friendly ecosystem not only in the institution but in the entire state as a whole.
Minister, W & CD, Mission Shakti, SSEPD, MSME, Mr Prafulla Samal told the aspiring students “If you can do a small part of what is expected of you by the society due to your brand association, you will be able to transform your nation and the world”.
Mr L.N Gupta, Additional chief secretary, department of MSME stated that the programme aims at sensitising tier 2, tier 3 towns about the startup ecosystem and encourage the aspiring entrepreneurs and youth to set up their ventures in the state.
Prof.(Dr) P. Srinivas Subbarao, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies highlighted the important role played by the state government to promote entrepreneurship. He also mentioned that already 220 students had pitched their ideas for the Startup India Odisha Yatra boot camp.
In his address, the Vicechancellor of Sri Sri University, Dr. Nand Lal said opportunities and challenges are there for the youths of the country who wish to pursue a different path of entrepreneurship. “There is tremendous amount of craftsmanship between a great idea and a great product”. The students will present their ideas in the extensive workshop which will be mentored by experts. The selected ideas will get cash prizes and recognition.
