The National Highway 44, which connects Srinagar to the rest of the country, was closed on Friday, 2 March, due to landslide at various places in Ramban district in Jammu.
Incessant rainfall in the region loosened the soil which led to stones rolling down on the highway which is the longest in the country.
Weather reports indicate moderate to heavy rainfall in the region.
Landslides and avalanches are common in Jammu-Kashmir. On 28 February, an avalanche had killed a 25-year-old man died and injured another in Hassangam-Malangam area in Tulail, Bandipora district.
