“The Ugly Duckling”, a cultural presentation by the  students of Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, showcasing the Springdalian ethos of love, peace, friendship and harmony – a legacy of Late Dr. Rajni Kumar, Founder of Springdales School enthralled the audience  at the Junior School Annual Day Celebrations and Prize Giving held on February 25th, 2023. It was a befitting tribute to Mrs. Kumar who had scripted, directed and staged the ballet in the year 1988. Mrs. Goldy Malhotra,Eminent Educationist, Author, Artiste and Academic Advisor, Planning & Pedagogy for Ratna Sagar Pvt Ltd. presided over as the Chief Guest on the occasion.

As a mark of respect, a two minute silence was observed in the memory of Mrs Rajni Kumar by the audience.

Dr. Neerja Sharma, Manager, Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, delivered the welcome address.

Giving away the Awards to the meritorious students of the Junior School for their excellence in Academic and Co-curricular Activities, Mrs. Goldy Malhotra  addressed the audience and applauded  Mrs. Rajni Kumar , for creating this temple of learning , promoting panic – free education which gives freedom to each child to learn his own way. She fondly remembered her for her fighter spirit and innovative mindset and will dedicate her upcoming Painting Exhibition to her memory.

She made an appeal to the parents to let children be free ,to blossom with her thought provoking lines , ‘Yeh haste chehre aur uchalte kadam , kahi dab naa jaen kitabon  talen …..’

The musical rendition by the  Junior School Choir filled the auditorium with rhythm and melody as they serenaded ‘DIL HAI CHOTA SA’ which is a popular song expressing hope and  innocence of little children and ‘JUST  BE HAPPY’ spreading the message of happiness in the world.

The ‘Vote of Thanks’ was proposed by Dr. Jyoti Bose, Director, Springdales Schools , who said, ‘ Behind every student is the hand of a teacher’, when she thanked all staff and students for a brilliant show.
