‘No disciplinary action against E P Jayarajan over his meeting with Javadekar’
At a press conference held here, after the party state secretariat meeting, CPI-M state secretary MV Govindan said Jayarajan will continue as the LDF convenor.
Intervening in the issue of suspension of three Kashmiri students of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) who reportedly organised a prayer meeting on the campus for terrorist Manan Wani who was last week killed in an encounter in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik on Tuesday spoke to Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar, and urged him to see that the issue was resolved soon.
Malik also spoke to the vice-chancellor of the AMU, Prof. Tariq Mansoor, in this regard.
The Governor urged Javdekar and Mansoor to intervene and ensure smooth studies of the Kashmiri students in the AMU.

Malik urged Javadekar and Prof Mansoor to ensure that the issue is resolved at the earliest and there is no disruption of studies of the Kashmiri students and they are allowed to continue their studies in a safe, secure and well-disposed academic environment.
Taking strict notice of the Kashmiri students organising the prayers for Manan, who was a former scholar of the AMU, the authorities suspended three of them as a result of which various Kashmiri leaders, including Mehbooba Mufti, condemned the action of the university authorities and have issued a series of statements seeking revoking of the suspension order as they claimed that holding such prayers was not an anti-national act.
About 1200 Kashmiri students of the AMU have reportedly threatened that they will leave for their homes on 17 October if the sedition charges against three of them were not withdrawn. They have denied that any prayers were organised on the campus.
