Health camps under VBSY turn out to be a bid draw
The cumulative footfall recorded at 1,99,199 health camps conducted in Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies at 5,19,35,933.
Himachal based Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HelpAge India for health camps in different states.
As per the MOU, financial assistance of Rs 32 lakh will be provided for conducting 20 health camps in the states of HP, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Maharashtra. The camps are being organised in the areas of Ophthalmology, gynaecology, dental, ENT, general health etc. During the camps health awareness lectures will also be delivered by health experts.

SJVN is joint venture, with HP government also having equity share in the Central Public Sector Unit.

During the MoU signing ceremony, Chairman cum Managing Director of the SJVN, Nand Lal Sharma said that these programmes be implemented in a professional manner as these are intended to serve the areas where specialised medical services are scarce.
SJVN undertakes its Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability projects namely, Health and hygiene, Education and Skill Development, Sustainable Development, Infrastructural and community development, Assistance during natural disaster, promotion of culture and sports.
A release by SJVN said in the last seven years more than 4000 local youth have been trained in various vocational trades namely Welder, Electrician, Site accountant, cutting and tailoring, Hospitality, Bed side attendant etc.
In the area of health, SJVN is operating 14 mobile health vans in the states of HP, Uttrakhand, Bihar and Maharashtra which have benefitted more than 5 lakh patients besides 150 health camps have been organised benefitting around over 50,000 patients.
In addition, projects for disable section of society like financial assistance to Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy for construction on integrated muscular dystrophy center, construction of special school at Dhalli etc. are being implemented.
SJVN is also active in construction of community assets like Panchayat Ghar, Mahila Mandal, playgrounds and in last few years more than 250 community assets have been created. SJVN constructed 2421 toilets under Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan and is committed for maintenance of these toilets through SJVN management.
