Though the Himachal Pradesh government is working overtime to resolve the water crisis in Shimla, BJP councillor in Municipal Corporation Kimi Sood put onus for crisis on officials’ mismanagement.

“Though there is shortage of water at sources, the onus of irregular water supply in some areas of the Queen of Hills lies with the officials,” Kimi Sood told The Statesman.

She said there is no mechanism for checking the leakage from water supply lines.

“There is the need for training or workshop for the officials engaged for water supply. Further, we have suggested to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to setup a computerized mechanism on the lines of Kerala to check leakages and correct them in timely manner,” she said.

Sood pointed out 670 hotels and guest houses in Shimla are getting water supply on domestic connections and only 268 establishments have taken commercial connections.

Though the government claimed to provide water in all three zones by today but still residents of many parts of the Shimla complained of lack for water supply for almost 7-9 days.
