Governor Acharya Devvrat underlined the need for the formation of a separate ministry at the Centre to resolve the common issues of Himalayan States.

He said that the issues and challenges of Himalayan region were totally different from the plain areas.

In his address, he said that for the first time, efforts were being made towards contemplation and solution on this serious topic, for which Union Agriculture Minister deserves appreciation.

The conclave was attended by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of state for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister of Himachal Jai Ram Thakur and Chief Minister of Uttrakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat, Deputy CM of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein.

Devvrat said, “Today we talk about global warming, while its main reason is chemical farming.” He expressed concern over the fact that various departments and organizations were promoting chemical farming though they were very much familiar of the fact that companies producing chemical products were responsible for pollution and global warming.

He had himself experienced that only natural farming was conducive which had also been confirmed by the scientific data taken from Gurukul (Haryana) fields, he said, adding that organic carbon of this land had increased from .3 to .9, which was possible due to natural farming.

He appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in promoting this system of agriculture in the state and said that under his leadership, the state government had been promoting natural farming in a big way. The farmers who adopted natural farming had expressed satisfaction on this system, said he.
