Security arrangements have been beefed up in Himachal Pradesh ahead of the President of India Ram Nath Kovind’s 5-day visit to the state from 20 to 24 May.
Around 1,000 police personnel have been deployed on routes expected to taken by the President during his visit.

“Elaborate plan has been put in place for the President’s,” Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Omapati Jamwal told The Statesman, adding general public is advised to refrain from using Kufri-Navbahar-Sanjauli route on 20 May and Vidhansabha-Boileauganj-Summerhill route in 22 May.
During his HP visit, the President will stay at The Retreat in Mashobra near Shimla. On 20 May, the President will grace the 7th convocation of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali.
On the same day, he will attend a cultural programme and banquet hosted in his honour by Acharya Devvrat, Governor of HP in Shimla.
On 21 May, the President will address the 9th convocation of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni in Solan district as Chief Guest.
On 22 May, the President will attend and address a civic reception hosted by the HP government in his honour at Peterhoff, Shimla.
On 23 May, the President will host a reception for senior dignitaries of the state, ministers, officials, journalists etc.
