Manipur: Suspected militants attack villages, injure civilians and security forces
On November 10 and 11, armed groups opened fire near Yaingangpokpi and other villages, injuring civilians and security personnel.
Following reports of Srinagar Central Jail becoming a hub of terrorist recruitment, newly appointed director general of prisons Dilbagh Singh, on Wednesday reviewed security arrangements in the jail.
Dilbagh Singh was appointed DG (Prisons) after the recent escape of Pakistani terrorist Naveed Jatt from police custody while he was being taken to a hospital in Srinagar.
Srinagar Central Jail where several terrorists and top separatists are lodged is situated in the heart of Srinagar city between densely-populated Rainawari on one side and Badamwari on the other side.

Dilbagh Singh held a high level security meeting with officers wherein basic infrastructure and gadgetry requirements were discussed and immediate security measures viz-a-viz long term improvement areas were identified. The DGP directed all stakeholders to be extra vigilant and present security scenario in the Valley.
The DGP inspected the entire jail including infrastructure and open areas on both sides of the boundary wall, in order to get familiarised with the topography and layout which in turn will help in making better security arrangements and take appropriate precautions in view of the sensitive location of the Jail.
Dilbagh Singh was accompanied by DIG Prisons, Mohd Sultan Lone, SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray, SP Hazratbal Amod Nagpure, commandant 82 Bn.
CRPF R. Balakrishna, staff officer to DGP Prisons S.A Beig and SP of Central Jail Mukesh Kumar Kakkar, SDPO Khanyar Raja Zuhaib and SHO Rainawari police station inspector J.P. Singh, Company Commander, CRPF posted there.

Dilbagh Singh on Tuesday also reviewed security scenario of the jail at Anantnag in South Kashmir that is known to be a hot bed of terrorism.
Prior to that, he went to inspect the jail at Kot Bhalwal in Jammu where several Pakistani and local terrorists are lodged. Maulana Masood Azhar and two other top Pakistani terrorists were released from this jail in 1999 in exchange of hostages of an Indian Airlines aircraft that was hijacked to Afghanistan.
