Two persons were arrested Thursday with 130 kg meat suspected to be beef in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district, police said.
They were identified as Samaydin (32), a wanted criminal in Gujarat, and Shakir (35). Both of them will be produced in a court on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, police teams were sent to a forest area in Khadiawas village in the district from where both the accused were arrested, Station House Officer at Gopalgarh Police Station Dhara Singh Meena said, adding the police seized a two-wheeler and 130 kg beef from them.
He said remains of cow skin, head, hoof and horns were also recovered from the spot.
A veterinary doctor has confirmed that the samples were of beef, Meena said, adding they will be sent to a forensic laboratory for a confirmatory test.
