Punjab Govt accords rousing civic reception to President

With a view to gain high production in crop during the 'Kharif' season, Punjab's irrigation department on Friday announced a rotational programme for the Kharif season through canal water from 1 July to 8 July.
An official spokesperson said that the channels of the Sirhind canal system would run on the priority basis from Bathinda branch, Bist Doab Canal, Sidhwan branch, Patiala feeder and Abohar branch respectively.

A spokesman said that direct distributors of the Bhakra Main Line (BML) in group 'A' being in the channels of first preference will run to their intent. Balance water supplies available will be utilised in Ghaggar branch and Patiala minor in group 'B' respectively.

The spokesman further said that the channels off taking from 'Upper Bari Doab' canal such as Kasur branch lower with itsdistributaries being in the first preference will run to their indent and balance water supplies available will be utilised inSabhron branch, Lahore branch, Main branch lower and with their distributaries respectively.
