Residents of the national capital enthusiastically stepped out of their homes on Wednesday to celebrate the festival of democracy and exercise their franchise to elect their representatives for the Delhi legislative assembly.
Nearly 58 per cent of over 1.56 crore voters in Delhi on Wednesday exercised their franchise in the crucial Assembly elections in the national capital which were largely peaceful save stray incidents of clashes and allegations of booth capturing, impersonation and bribery.
As voting for the high stake Delhi assembly polls concluded on Wednesday, city voters expressed a strong desire for change, hoping for a fresh leadership approach, while many reaffirmed their trust in the incumbent government.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and BJP candidate from the Rohini constituency, Vijender Gupta, along with his wife, Dr Shobha Vijender Wednesday exercised their franchise for Delhi Assembly polls.
Talking to media, Sanyukt Kisan Morcha convener Harish Chauhan said they will seek response from the government on issues concerning farmers in the state in the ongoing bypolls and will seek adequate compensation to affected persons under Land Acquisition Act.
Sharma stated that BJP had politicized the armed forces and had cheated soldiers in the name of ‘One Rank, One Pension’ scheme.
The state Congress has no leadership and there is no proper strategy with the party to contest bypolls which seems to be the only reason for its leaders for making objectionable statements against soldiers and the CM,” he added.
There are around 1,000 pollution checking centers in the state authorized by the state transport department.
