Chief Minister Atishi on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review Chhath Puja preparations and announced that over 1,000 Chhath Ghats will be set up across the capital this year, ensuring devotees can worship ‘Chhathi Maiya’ near their homes.

Atishi emphasised that Chhath Puja is a festival of faith for millions of devotees and assured that the Delhi government is committed to ensuring the festival is celebrated with joy and that devotees can worship ‘Chhathi Maiya’ without any inconvenience.

She directed all district officials to begin the preparations for Chhath Ghats in their respective areas and to hold meetings with local Chhath Puja committees to gather suggestions for a successful celebration.

She also announced that, like every year, the government will prepare “more than 1,000 Chhath Ghats across the city for the convenience of devotees, so they can worship near their homes”.

All these Chhath Ghats will be equipped with “clean water, tents, electricity, toilets, security, medical facilities, power backup, CCTV cameras, and other necessary arrangements.”

For the convenience of devotees, the government will set up a “large, model Chhath Ghat in every assembly constituency” this year, where cultural programmes will also be organised by the government.
