Prime Minister Narendra Modi exuded the confidence of BJP forming the government in Odisha and said the poll results in the state will bewilder everybody.
Speaking at “Main bhi Chowkidar” programme, Modi said “results of upcoming polls in Odisha will surprise everybody.
The 20-year-old Manik Sarkar government in Tripura was overthrown with voters electing BJP. In Odisha also, the same trend will be repeated.
The 19-year-old government in Odisha will be voted out of power and BJP will come to power, Modi said while interacting with people from Kendrapara Lok Sabha Constituency through video-conference.
BJP’s base was being viewed as weak. But the result from the eastern state will be amazing for the party, he said.
The PM had recently addressed his first election campaign meeting in Koraput district and on Monday party president Amit Shah is to campaign in Gajapati district of the state.
Many sitting MPs and MLAs of the ruling BJD have switched over to the BJP after being denied re-nomination by their party.
To overcome the anti-incumbency factor, the BJD has dropped a majority of its 20 sitting MPs and almost 32 of its sitting MLAs.
Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been focussing on building the party over the last four years and positioned it as the main opposition party replacing the Congress from the spot in Odisha.
