Heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by strong gusty surface wind is likely to pound Odisha by tomorrow due to formation of a low pressure, even as the state was lashed by rains for the last two days.
Yesterday’s low pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Odisha and the Gangetic West Bengal lies over north Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood today, the Meteorological Centre here said.
Under its impact, rain and thundershower is likely to occur in most places of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur in some places of interior Odisha, while heavy rainfall may be recorded at one or two places in coastal region during the next 24 hours, it said.
Strong gusty surface wind from southwesterly direction with 35 KMPH to 55 KMPH is likely to prevail along and off Odisha Coast.
Since the sea condition would be moderate to rough in Odisha coast, fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea, the MeT office said.
Most parts of coastal and interior Odisha received a good amount of rainfall since Monday.
