No difference between Modi and Mamata: Biswas

Criticising chief minister Mamata Banerjee for the deaths of several people following pre-and post-panchayat poll violence, national general secretary of the Forward Bloc Debabrata Biswas said chief minister Banerjee was trying to oust the Opposition parties from the West Bengal.

Addressing a Press conference, at the FB headquarters, he said there was no difference between BJP’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trinamool supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee as both have ignored democracy to establish their autocratic rule to oust the Opposition parties.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi is trying to overthrow the Congress and in the West Bengal Miss Banerjee is all set to destroy democracy by ousting the Opposition parties. Both leaders are similar in nature,” he said.

He, however, said Karnataka political fiasco clearly revealed the Congress can’t alone fight against the saffron brigade. “We hope this is lately understandable by the Congress,” he said.

Mr Biswas also said that Miss Banerjee is campaigning to unite all Opposition parties to fight against the BJP but her call for movement is not comprehensive. “We want that the Left Front and all other secular parties to be the real alternative and give a proper fight against the BJP and its attempt to polarize the people of India,” he said.

FB is also going to organise its national conference in Kolkata from 12 December to 16 December this year. Mr Biswas said that before Forward Bloc organises the conference the party will organise several rallies and meetings in West Bengal and several parts of India.

“We are going to intensify the movement against the BJP government’s anti people policy. Our movement will be launched to protest against the leasing out of the Red Fort to a private company in a bid to destroy the heritage of the country,” he said.

The party will launch movements in the state to depict Trinamul reign, which is destroying democracy and snatching the rights of the people by not allowing them to exercise their voting rights.
