Arguably for the first time in the history of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), two ‘video walls’ will be set up as part of plans to build a digital museum at the NJP railway station in Siliguri soon. The project aims to spread information among tourists, visitors and passengers on the NFR and the heritage DHR, while also showcasing the legacy of the Indian Railways, through some audio visual clips on digital LED screens on the walls.
“The video walls will be set up on platform 1 and 1-A at the NJP station. We are expecting that the digital project will be functional within a month,” said additional divisional railway manager of NJP, Partha Pratim Roy.
There are some railway stations where the project has been launched, but this will perhaps be the first of its kind at stations under the NFR, Mr Roy added. Meanwhile, the divisional railway manager of Katihar division, NFR, Sumit Sarkar, visited the station today. “We plan to launch the beautification work of the station, which includes redoing the seating arrangements for passengers on the platforms in an elaborate manner,” he said.
