Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a 45-day campaign against child labour, launched a community radio programme ‘Suna Shramika’ and a migrant labour assistance centre at the state-level celebrations of International Labour Day on Tuesday.
Over the next 45 days, a campaign on the adverse impact of child labour, awareness against such practices will be undertaken across the state. The community radio will air programmes on labour welfare programmes, said the CM.

He announced establishment of Shramika Sarathi, besides assistance centres in Bolangir, Khurda and Bargarh districts to assist migrant labourers.
The government is committed to all-round welfare of labourers, said the CM.
Four trade union leaders were conferred with the prestigious ‘Biju Shramika Bandhu Samman’.
Labour Minister Sushanta Singh, construction workers welfare board chairman Subash Singh, Bhubaneswar Mayor AN Jena, MP Prasanna Patsani, MLA Priyadarshi Mishra and senior officers, including chief secretary AP Padhi, were present at the function.
