NABARD projects `2754.65-crore credit for M’bhanj

The Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP)of Mayurbhanj district, prepared by National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for the year 2018-19 has been projected at Rs 2754.65 crore. The credit plan was released by district collector Surendra Kumar Meena at a meeting of bankers here.

Prakash Chandra Dash, Deputy General Manager, NABARD , Dilip Kumar Nanda, Lead District Manger, Chintamoni Barik, Regional Manager of SBI , Bhaskar Chandra Dash, Regional Manager of Odisha Gramya Bank, District Coordinators and officers of all banks and district level officers of the line departments were present.

Prakash Chandra Dash, DGM and DDM of NABARD made a detailed presentation on the background, process involved in preparing a comprehensive resource document for credit planning for use by bankers, line departments, policy makers. The PLP of Mayurbhanj district is prepared with the theme of ‘Water Conservation – per drop more crop’ and based on extensive consultations with all stakehorlders.

The PLP for 2018-19 highlights the need to augment credit flow for capital formation in agriculture. The total credit potential of Rs 2754.65 crore estimated in the PLP of 2018-19 is 11.55 per cent more than the PLP estimated for the current year i.e. 2017-18.

The total farm credit comprising crop loan, term loan for agriculture and allied activities including agriculture infrastructure is projected to the tune of Rs 1841.97 crore (67 pc of the plan). The credit plan has given a special focus for term loan under irrigation, farm mechanization, dairy, poultry, goatery, fisheries, etc. with total credit potential of  Rs 679.62 crore (25 per cent of the PLP).

The potential for MSME is also estimated for Rs 516.00 crore. District Development Manager of NABARD also informed that in order to give thrust to the sectors by enhancing term loan through a banking plan, special Area Development Schemes for goatery and mushroom cultivation is prepared by NABARD for a period of five years starting from 2018-19.

DDM NABARD also made a detailed presentation covering infrastructure and policy interventions required by the State government for development of various priority sectors through bank credit including financing Self Help Groups (SHGs) and increasing per group lending.

The District Magistrate advised all bankers to provide credit to farmers, SHGs and entrepreneurs by holding village level camps in coordination with the officials of line departments.
