Modi, Kovind, Jaitley set to grace Yogi’s first business summit

With chief minister Yogi Adityanath determined to ensure success of the first mega event of his regime, high security will be in place for the Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit-2018. The two-day mega event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan here on 21 February.

That the Prime Minister, who is a member of Parliament from Varanasi, is himself keen to ensure that Uttar Pradesh developed into a investment-friendly state is evident from the fact that apart from delivering the inaugural address, Mr. Modi will have a separate meeting with the chief executive officers (CEO) of top business companies and industrial houses.

According to the government spokesman and Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh, while the Prime Minister will be at the investors’ summit for the opening session, the closing session on 22 November will be attended by President Ram Nath Kovind. The spokesman said the valedictory session on the last day will be addressed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Reliance group chairman Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Adani group, Gautam Adani, Tata Group CEO Chadrashekharan and the chairman of Aditya Birla Group, Kumar Mangalam Birla are expected to attend the investor’s summit. Subhash Chandra of Essel group, the chairman of GMR group, GM Rao, CEO of Larsen and Toubro SN Subramaniam and CEO of ITC Limited Sanjeev Puri and Arvind Mills executive director Kulin Lalbhai would also attend the UP investors’ summit, the spokesman added.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister who saw a presentation on the forthcoming summit and presided over a review meeting at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhavan has directed the director general of police, OP Singh, that top priority must be accorded to the security of the VVIPs and industrialists attending the summit. Referring to the traffic bottlenecks in the state capital Yogi Adityanath said it should be ensured that there is a smooth flow of traffic during the summit. He laid emphasis on route emergency.

Stating that the success of the investors’ summit will give a new direction to development in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister added that adequate publicity of the event be ensured in the print and electronic media. Adityanath also saw separate presentations on the traffic plan for the summit, civil aviation policy, 2017 and dairy industry.

Yogi Adityanath was informed by the Industrial and Infrastructure Development Commissioner, Anup Chandra Pandey that the MOU signed during the summit would be monitored and focus will be given to their implementation. Pandey said Uttar Pradesh would be projected as a ‘bio-fuel production destination ,’ and a ‘connectivity hub’.

A multi-pronged security plan has been readied by the police. Drone cameras will be installed for keeping a close vigil on the hotels and the venue of the investors’ summit. Lucknow SSP Deepak Kumar said the police teams will be deployed which will comprise of 12 ASPs, 26 deputy SPs and 400 head constables. In addition, 1400 constables will be on duty during the summit.
