In a major setback to the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government just two days ahead of the MCD polls, the Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed AAP's plea to use Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail-enabled Electronic Voting Machine.
The AAP on April 19 moved the Delhi High Court seeking the use of Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines along with the EVMs for the upcoming MCD polls.
The petition to use VVPAT EVMs in the MCD elections was filed by AAP candidate Mohammad Tahir Hussain.

The AAP and the Congress have been demanding that the Election Commission should conduct polls using paper ballots instead of EVMs.
The issue of EVM tampering came to light when BSP leader and former Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati alleged that BJP received a massive mandate in the state because of fault in the machines.
