CM lauds tigress rescue
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has extended appreciation for the Chief Conservator of Forests for his role in capturing Zeenat, an escapee tigress of Similipal Tiger Reserve of Odhisa.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday paid tribute to Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary.
In a tweet, Banerjee said: “Homage to Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary.”

Known popularly as Babuji, Jagjivan Ram was born on April 5, 1908 and was one of the tallest Dalit leader of his time.
He was also the defence minister of India during the India-Pakistan war of 1971, which resulted in the creation of Bangladesh. He later served as the deputy prime minister of India.
He actively participated in the country’s independence struggle and also founded the All-India Depressed Classes League, dedicated to attaining equality for untouchables in 1935.
