Fire in UP vegetable market, shops gutted

At least two dozen shops were gutted when a fire broke out in a vegetable market here, police said on Thursday.

The blaze broke out at about 1:25 am and immediately fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

“The fire was controlled after about seven hours,” Chief Fire Officer, Jasveer Singh, said.

The exact losses are yet to be ascertained.

At close, the Sensex was down 820.97 points or 1.03% at 78,675.18, and the Nifty was down 257.80 points or 1.07% at 23,883.50.

At close, the Sensex was up 9.83 points or 0.01 per cent at 79,496.15, and the Nifty was down 6.90 points or 0.03 per cent at 24,141.30.

The market outlook for next week will be guided by key macroeconomic data and the last round of Q2 earnings.
