A leopard cub that strayed into human habitation was rescued by the forest officials from Chakkar in the periphery of Shimla on Tuesday morning.
The locals spotted the cub hiding under the car adjoining the District Court Complex and informed the police control room, who further informed the forest officials.
The frightened cub gave a tough time to the rescue team, as it kept dodging the rescue officials while hiding under the car.

According to District Forest Officer (DFO), Rajesh Sharma the rescue team of around five members captured the cub with a net and transported it to the Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, Tutikandi.
“The rescued cub is probably around seven to eight months old. The cub will undergo health check-up and since it is too young it will be kept in the rescue centre. Possibilities will be explored to reunite the cub with the mother if there are any evidences of her being around,” he said.
“Based on evidences, it will also be ensured that the mother leopard accepts the cub or else would be kept in the rescue centre,” he added.
