Kolkata Metro to open more gates for night services

According to the city Metro office, at stations like Shyambazar, Sovabazar-Sutanuti, Chandni Chowk, Park Street, Rabindra Sadan, Netaji Bhavan and Rabindra Sarobar, 50 per cent gates are remaining open for these experimental services in order to make entry and exit of passengers fast and easy.

E-pass needed for city Metro travel; services from 14th

For the first time in Kolkata Metro, e-pass or boarding pass will have to be obtained with the expected time of the journey, source and destination Metro stations four to six hours before the journey, which is likely to be available on the Metro website or the existing ‘Pathadisha’ app launched by the state Transport Department or a mobile app, according to sources.

Bengal lags behind in testing: GAB member

The Union health ministry on 21 August had claimed that India had been conducting 580 tests per day per million population, while Bengal remained far behind at 365 tests, and figured in the bottom five states in terms of testing per day.
