The cloudburst at Malpa reportedly killed 14 villagers. Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat said, “There is no clarity on the number of death suffered at Malpa.”
The CM’s attempt to do an aerial survey of the affected area didn’t materialise due to low visibility and bad weather. The cloudburst struck the area at 2.40am, leading to landslides.
Due to heavy rainfall, Sinkhola bridge got washed away, affecting the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Officer on Special Duty (Tourism) of Kumoan Mandal Vikas Nigam, DK Sharma, said, “We are looking for alternative route.”
