14 Maoists neutralized in Dandakaranya region along Chhattisgarh-Odisha border
Security forces have dealt a significant blow to the Maoist insurgency in the dense Dandakaranya region along the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border.
A jawan of the District Voluntary Force, Sanjay Majhi, was killed in a landmine explosion during anti-naxal combing operations near Niyamgiri hills near Sakata village in Rayagada, Odisha, on Monday.

Police said the landmine was triggered by Maoists.

Rayagada District Superintendent of Police Rahul P R said no other security personnel was injured in the blast. The District Voluntary Force had received information of left wing extremists camping in the forests near Niyamgiri foothills on Monday night and had launched a combing operation.
According to media reports, the incident occurred when the DVF team was returning to their base camp after a combing operation.
The SP took stock of the situation along with some other officials.
He said the body of 22-year-old Majhi was sent to the district hospital from where it would be sent to his village Ambodala for cremation.
