Taking a lead in shunning VIP culture, Governor NN Vohra on Saturday ordered removal of red beacon and siren from all vehicles of the Raj Bhavan in Jammu and Kashmir.
A spokesman of the Raj Bhavan said that consequent to Government of India’s decision in the matter, the Governor directed that red lights and sirens on all Raj Bhavan vehicles at Delhi, Jammu and Srinagar should be removed forthwith.
The principal secretary to Governor disclosed that this had been got done in respect of all vehicles even though the Governor had never allowed use of red lights or sirens ever since he came to the state.

However, ministers, including those of BJP, and bureaucrats of the state government were continuing to use red beacons and sirens on their vehicles.
