Bullet-riddled body of a constable of J&K Police, Muhammad Saleem Shah, was found on Saturday in the Qaimoh area after he was abducted last night by terrorists from his house in the Mutalhama village of Kulgam in South Kashmir.

Police said that Shah’s bullet riddled body was found in a field at Odipura in Qaimoh village this afternoon. The security forces had lunched manhunt for the kidnapped policeman since this morning.

Police said that Shah, who had come home on leave from Kathua in Jammu where he was undergoing training, was kidnapped by a group of armed terrorists who barged into his house late last night. Shah was earlier working as a special police officer (SPO) and was recently absorbed in regular police force. He was scheduled to return to Kathua on Monday to resume hi training.

The incident has come nearly a month after a soldier of the Indian Army, Aurengzeb, was kidnapped and brutally killed by terrorists in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. A few days later a policeman who was a member of the team that killed 13 terrorists in an operation in South Kashmir was also abducted and killed when he had come on leave and was purchasing medicine for his ailing mother.

South Kashmir has become notorious for kidnapping and killing of Army personnel and policemen while on leave. A young Army officer was kidnapped and shot dead by terrorists last year from his house in Shopian where he had come to attend marriage of his cousin.

Terrorists have also snatched a number of weapons from policemen from that part of the valley during the past one year.
