Omar leads ministers, officials to border Poonch district
This was the first outreach of Omar after becoming CM of Jammu and Kashmir.

A Hurriyat activist was shot on Saturday by unidentified gunmen in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore area, police said.

He was shot dead outside his house at Reshipora Bomai. The assailants fired at him and escaped from the scene. He was immediately shifted to Sopore hospital where he was declared brought dead. He was recently released from jail.

Meanwhile, a Lashkar-e-Tayiba (LeT) terrorist was killed in retaliatory fire by security forces when a group of militants attacked a police picket at Achabal in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir last mid-night. Other terrorists managed to escape as the alert jawans repulsed the attack.
The killed terrorist has been identified as Bilal Ahmad of Kulgam district who had joined terrorism three months ago. He was involved in attacks on security forces and weapon snatching. He was also accused of causing atrocities on civilians in the area, police said.
A security jawan was also injured in the attack and was evacuated to the hospital where his condition was stable. Police has also seized from the spot two cars that were used by terrorists to reach the targeted police post.
