Unexpected: Kharge, Rahul on Maha poll results
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the outcome of the Maharashtra Assembly elections was unexpected.
The Congress has appointed former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda as chairman of its Sub-Groupon Agriculture, Employment and Poverty Alleviation.
The AICC president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday constituted the organising Committee, Drafting Committee and four Sub-Groups. WhileHooda has been given the responsibility to chair the sub-group on agriculture, employment and poverty alleviation, neighbouring Punjab’s CM Amarinder Singh and senior Congress leader from Haryana, Randeep Singh Surjewala have been appointed as members of the Sub-Group.
Apart from this, the two-timer Haryana CM has also been appointed as a member of the drafting committee of the party. Three leaders from Haryana including Hooda and Surjewala have been given responsibilities under these committees and sub-groups of the Congress.

Party’s media in-charge Surjewala has been also been appointed as member ofSub-Group, Political as well as the member of the Drafting Committee while party’s another legislator from Haryana, Kuldeep Bishnoi has been appointed as a special invitee for the organising committee of the AICC.
Earlier, this month, Surjewala was appointed as member of theCongress’ steering committee constituted by Gandhi in which 34Congress leaders from across the country were appointed members including Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Interestingly, many senior leaders from Haryana including former Union minister KumariSelja, party’s Haryana unit chief Ashok Tanwar, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader in Haryana Assembly, Kiran Choudhary have failed to get a place in any of these committees and sub-groups.
